Rocinante and Três Selos form a partnership to release Brazilian albums starting in November 2023.

The passion for vinyl has led three leading figures in the Brazilian market to join forces for an unprecedented partnership. The Rocinante factory, based in Petrópolis, will start pressing records in November, curated by Rocinante in partnership with Três Selos. Tropicália Discos, an iconic store located in downtown Rio de Janeiro with 20 years of expertise in promoting Brazilian music, whether through its YouTube channel or through consultations at the physical store, which has an exquisite catalog of CDs and LPs, will also be joining the selection of titles.

Three Seals

Recognized for their catalog of major Brazilian music titles, the Três Selos project brought together the labels Assustado Discos, EAEO Records, and Goma Gringa in 2019. Initially, the idea was to offer the public a monthly vinyl album featuring unique artwork to delight collectors. With the Três Selos Subscription, the initiative focused its main focus on customer loyalty, receiving one title per month since January 2019. In 2022, the project gained support from the Nada Nada Discos label, with the departure of Goma Gringa. Planning was expanded, and Três Selos now produces three monthly releases: one through the subscription and two more through Três Selos Paralelo. Together, the catalogs of the three labels now total over 300 vinyl releases for the national and international markets. Names like Dona Onete, Chico César, Ave Sangia, Alaíde Costa, Seu Jorge, Mestre Ambrósio, Arnaldo Antunes, Siba, Tulipa Ruiz and many others have released vinyl records through the Três Selos initiative. Now, with the partnership of Rocinante/Três Selos, the project gains new momentum and greater production capacity, with the aim of contributing even further to the construction of an increasingly rich catalog of Brazilian music, in vinyl format.

Rocinante Factory

The Rocinante record label and vinyl record factory was created in 2018, in Petrópolis. It is the result of the meeting between Sylvio Fraga and the technical knowledge of sound engineer Pepê Monnerat. The label releases records in vinyl and digital formats, with an emphasis on Brazilian songs and instrumental music in its catalog.

Quality vinyl records produce a special sound – without compression – and are therefore an important means of reproduction for the record company’s goals: to express the uniqueness and aesthetic intentions of each artist. “Our compass is the emotion we feel when we hear it. We work mainly in the fields of Brazilian song and instrumental music. We release records on vinyl, pressed in our own factory with modern Newbilt presses, and also in digital format”, comments Sylvio Fraga, musician and partner.

In Cervantes' novel "Don Quixote", Rocinante is the name of the protagonist's horse. Therefore, according to the partners, the record label is an adventure that is assumed to be quixotic. In the pool of artists represented by the label, the brilliance of Jards Macalé, Bernardo Ramos, Erika Ribeiro, João Donato, José Arimatéa, Marcelo Galter, Ilessi, Nelson Angelo, the work of Letieres Leite + Quinteto / Orquestra Rumpilezz, Thiago Amud and Sylvio Fraga himself

Tropicalia Discos

Tropicália Discos began its activities in late 2003, aiming to be more than just a store specializing in LPs, CDs and culture in general in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The initiative was born with the mission of introducing Brazilian artists who were still unknown to the general public, through our YouTube channel, where a large collection of Brazilian music is available for consultation and research free of charge.
